MORE INFORMATION

Dog Sled Tour: here is what to expect!

Our Tremblant Dog Sledding Tour starts as soon as you are greeted at the kennel by our 30 excited dogs.

Before the departure, our guides will decide positions on the sleds : if you have a particular position request, please make it known to our guide when you arrive. Adults will be teamed up : there will be 1 driver and 1 or 2 passengers per sled. Adults will usually, but not always, drive their own dog sled with an adult passenger. Passengers and drivers from the same sled can switch places half way through the excursion. Children may be required to ride as passengers on the guides’ sleds or ride on parents' sled.

When the teams are ready, you’ll get a short security briefing and learn how to command the dogs. Then you’re off! You'll drive your sled through a field of valley trails, surrounded by a pine forest wand stunning views of Mont-Tremblant. The tour enters into the forest several times. We are on the trail for about 1 hour. At the end of the dog sled tour, there will be a grooming period with the dogs while giving treats. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served! You will have the chance to chat with the guides about the world of dog sledding.

Safety, ethics, and animal health information for our operation: Read about our operating standards and Code of ethics.

  • Important Information
    When should I reserve?

These are very popular activities. Reservations for weekends and vacations should be made 1 to 2 weeks in advance. For any other time, reservations should be made a few days in advance.

How is this dogsledding activity different from the others?

    See our Dogsled Comparison Table.

    How should we be dressed?

Consult our What to wear information page.

How many people can go on one sled?

We usually configure 2 adults per sled (one driver, one passenger). Configuration also depends on the weather and snow conditions.

Is it hard on the dogs?

These dogs are working dogs who are bred to pull and run in a cold environment. They are trained and fed properly to be able to do it well. They like pulling a sled as much as a retriever likes fetching a stick. This will become obvious just before the ride starts. Feel free to ask your guide anything you want about sled dogs… learning about the dogs is an interesting part of the experience.

    Can we pet the dogs?

Yes, at the end of the ride, you get to pet and reward them.

    Is it hard?

This activity can be strenuous for drivers. As a driver you are part of the team, so when the climbs are steep the driver will have to get off and walk, jog or even help push the sled.

How fast do dog dlesd go?

On average, a well-trained team can maintain speeds between 10 to 20 miles per hour (16 to 32 kilometers per hour) during a run.

How many dogs usually pull a dog sled?

In recreational or touring setups like our activities use, it might range from 4 to 8 dogs.

    Do dogs enjoy dogsledding?

Dogsledding can be an enjoyable and fulfilling activity for sled dogs that are well-trained, properly cared for, and have a strong bond with their musher.
